Riding Lessons

Acorns to Oaks Horsemanship Center riding lessons are based in English balanced seat with a focus on safety, horsemanship, connection between horse and rider, low-level dressage and eventing, and, of course, having fun with and enjoying your horse.

We offer riding lessons for ages 5 and up. Most riders take hour-long private lessons. For our youngest and newest riders, however, AOHC recommends half-hour private lessons. These allow the riders to learn new skills safely and with individualized instruction, without overtaxing their interest and focus. Depending on horse availability and appropriate peers, semi-private lessons may be offered.

Lesson registration for Summer 2024 is now open. Fall 2024 registration will open to new riders on June 20. Contact us for more information.

Leasing

Acorns to Oaks sometimes has horses available for full or partial leases. Please inquire directly with Kelly or Abigail.

Horsemanship

Horsemanship consists of unmounted (non-riding) weekly lessons to develop knowledge about horses, their care, health, and management. Students come for an hour-long Horsemanship class, where they will learn how to properly execute day-to-day horse care. Each class includes a short lecture and hands-on learning component on a different topic each week. Weekly topics include nutrition, basic veterinary care, proper grooming, blanketing, anatomy, equipment and tack care, and many more.
